In cooperation with the British International School of Ljubljana, Lingula offers Spanish, French and Chinese (Mandarin) courses for BISL students.
The courses follow the Lingula Kids™ speaking method, which encourages children to actively use the new language from the very first lesson. Through conversation, role play, engaging topics and other interactive activities, children do not simply learn new vocabulary and language structures – they put them into practice straight away.

Course length: 50 academic hours, 30 sessions of 75 minutes
Age groups: Year 3–Year 6 (approx. ages 7–11)
Year 7–Year 9 (approx. ages 11–14)
Schedule: Tuesdays, 15:00–16:15 (Year 3–Year 6) or Wednesdays, 15:00–16:15 (Year 7–Year 9)

Choose a language
🇪🇸 Spanish
At the beginner Spanish course, children will learn essential vocabulary and useful phrases for everyday situations. Through short dialogues, role play and other speaking activities, they will be encouraged to communicate in Spanish from their very first lessons.
🇫🇷 French
Through engaging topics, dialogues and interactive activities, children will learn basic French vocabulary and language structures and put them into practice in conversation as they learn. The emphasis is on understanding and speaking with confidence.
🇨🇳 Chinese – Mandarin
Children will learn their first Mandarin words and useful phrases and discover the distinctive features of Mandarin pronunciation and tones. They will also be introduced to their first Chinese characters and, through a variety of activities, take their first steps towards communicating in Mandarin.
Language is for speaking
With the Lingula Kids™ speaking method, children are not passive listeners but active participants in every lesson. The target language is used from the very beginning, while the teacher uses questions, conversation, pictures, role play and other activities to encourage children to speak as much as possible.
Children see, hear and use new words and language structures in real-life situations, which helps them remember what they have learnt. The goal is not simply to know vocabulary and grammar rules, but above all to be able to use the language in practice.
Small groups, plenty of opportunities to speak
Each group has between 4 and 10 children. Small groups ensure that every child is actively involved in the lesson and has plenty of opportunities to speak.
Throughout the course, children:
- become more confident when speaking,
- expand their vocabulary,
- improve their understanding of the language,
- learn to use their new knowledge in practical situations.

Experienced Lingula teachers are trained in our speaking method and know how to engage children, encourage participation and give them the confidence to speak.
They create a relaxed and supportive learning environment while ensuring that lessons are clearly structured and children make steady progress.
How does the course work?
- The programme is designed so that throughout the year, children gradually build their vocabulary and language structures while continuously putting them into practice through speaking. New language is regularly revised and reinforced, helping children make steady progress and use what they have learnt with confidence.
- Parents stay informed Our online class journal allows parents to keep track of what children have covered in each lesson. If your child misses a lesson, you can easily check what the group worked on.
- We monitor progress At the end of the course, each child takes a short oral assessment and receives a progress report and a certificate of attendance.
- We celebrate their progress together The course concludes with a short presentation for parents, where children have the opportunity to show some of what they have learnt throughout the year.
Tuition fee
The course will run with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 10 children per group. The tuition fee per child depends on the final number of children in each group.

We will confirm the final tuition fee once enrolment has closed and the number of children in each group is known. Course materials are not included in the tuition fee and cost approximately €30–40, depending on the language.

By enrolling a child in the course, parents agree to the enrolment terms and conditions. Withdrawal is possible in the case of a medical absence lasting more than 30 days, subject to appropriate medical documentation.
The tuition fee can be paid either in full or in instalments by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Diners).
